Welcome, Anton von Raduš!
Since May 2023, the Spreewald Tourism Association has a new team member and mascot. From now on, Anton von Raduš will be giving tips for activities that children and young people can do in the Spreewald on the website spreewald.de, in the Spreewald Blog and in the Spreewald Journal. The team of the Spreewald Tourism Association became aware through Spreewald photographer Peter Becker that Anton was looking for new accommodation and contacted the country hotel in Burg with its petting zoo. Anton found a new home there, together with the donkeys Christinchen and Hilde and many other animals. The tourism association was happy to adopt the donkey. The team accompanied donkey Anton on his move at the beginning of June.
Anton's tips for exciting adventures in summer
The most beautiful water playgrounds are in Lübben, in Lübbenau, at Groß Leuthener See and in Cottbus. In Lübben, on the Schlossinsel (castle island), you'll find the largest water playground with lots of equipment such as dredgers, dams and waterfalls. For older children, there are rafts for the little pirates to chase after. For parents or grandparents, there are a few places to sit in the shade and sanitary facilities. The "Spreewaldreich" water playground in Lübbenau is more for the younger ones, but older siblings can romp around the huge and beautifully designed adventure playground. Climbing fans in particular get their money's worth here, as they can climb real climbing worlds. There are also swings, a barefoot park and rest and shade corners designed in the Spreewald style. The playground is the perfect starting or ending point for a family excursion to Lübbenau. There is a large car park and public toilet right next to the playground. The Groß Leuthener See water playground (125 m²) is about 20 minutes from Lübben and well worth the short journey. It is not too crowded here even in high summer and the lake has good water quality. Below the large Eurocamp Spreewaldtor campsite is the bathing area with a water playground where you can really splash around. Because the bathing area is directly in the forest, there is plenty of shade from midday to afternoon. Directly opposite the first bathing area is a second bathing area with a jetty, where there are toilets and a seesaw. The 4th stage of the Cucumber Cycle Path also leads through Groß Leuthen. The lake can be easily circumnavigated on foot or by bicycle. The village church built of turf stones is worth seeing. Cottbus also has a beautiful water playground in Eliaspark. The playground offers an active experience for children of all ages. Three springs bubble up on the slope into an artificially created course of the Spree, where children can dam up the water at weirs. The park railway also departs near the water playground - another tip for hot summer days. The special thing about it: Around 20 children and young people from Cottbus and the surrounding area volunteer at the park railway, e.g. as train dispatchers, train drivers, supervisors or signalmen.

Tip for a cycling tour to the lake
A cycling tour for the whole family to the bathing lake: the 24km round trip from Lübben's Schlossinsel (castle island) via Radensdorf to the bathing lake at Briesensee. There are several playgrounds along the route that invite you to take a break. The bathing lake in Briesensee has particularly white sand, a pedal boat hire service (book in advance) and a small snack bar where visitors can enjoy some refreshments after a well-deserved cool-down before returning to Lübben. The best swimming pools in the Spreewald
For those who are not so keen on natural swimming lakes or are already travelling with older children, Anton recommends the many leisure pools in the Spreewald. Water slides, table tennis and beach volleyball and then a cool down? You can find a list in the Spreewald Blog.

Information on the Spreewald Tourism Association (Tourismusverband Spreewalde.V. ) The Spreewald Tourism Association (Tourismusverband Spreewald e.V. ) transferred the operational management of its tourism business to GLC Glücksburg Consulting AG on 1 June 2013.
